Walking Down A Lonely Road Alone

Sleeping in peaceful harmony,
Never having a single need,
Never doubting who friends can be,
I wake from a sleep seeing it is only me.

My eyes are open and clear,
I am going nowhere,
A reality I can't erase,
Lost, I embrace death.

I walk a road I have been before,
I close each and every door,
I say farewell my friend,
In sleep, I'll see you again.

The road is open, nothing there,
Breathing in the cold brittle air,
Alone I begin the journey to the end,
Write, post and send.

Reality is a cold harsh place,
Rough and edgy, my heart did race,
Slow and easy, I drag myself along,
Far from anywhere I might belong.

Music plays the light and dark memories,
Words written tell hidden stories,
Gone but I won't forget,
Life lost is my one regret.

Goodbye, lies that seemed so real,
Hello, lonely road,
I have a few games for you,
While I walk down a lonely road alone.
